Typically Krishna is shown in this Indian miniature painting on ivory playing his flute. It is difficult to reproduce since it is in a glazed frame.
Bought on impulse at a provincial auction in Shropshire – probably at about its market price – nevertheless an interesting object and moreover a learning experience.
These paintings were produced using single hair brushes – incredibly delicate and fine.
Difficult to resist – especially since one was taking a risk in area in which I had no real experience – relying partly on – well I haven’t seen anything quite like this before and it looks interesting. so buy it!
